Rival 1 HRD Shift/Brake Lever & Flat Mount Caliper offers powerful braking and a clean 1x setup designed to handle the rough and tumble gravel road and cyclocross courses without breaking the bank. Thoughtful construction using aluminum and stainless steel hardware over more expensive carbon and titanium lets you install this brake lever/caliper combo on your drop bar disc brake bike and enjoy hydraulic disc brake performance without having to dip into the kid's college funds. As with Force and Red, Rival 1 HRD extends the brands range to outfit disc-equipped road, gravel, cyclocross, and all-road machines. The lever features refined ergonomics and the additional hood height helps keep the hands in position on steep descents and over rough terrain. The additional grip comes in handy in wet and muddy conditions and helps reduce the possibility of your hands flying forward off the hoods after a shocking encounter with a pothole hiding under smooth, loose gravel.The Rival 1 HRD levers inherit the same adjustability and smooth shifting functionality of its carbon-infused siblings. A slight update from the original version sees a more comfortable hood-top hand position, which is much appreciated on long multistrada epics and through particularly rough 'cross courses. Adjustable reach accommodates a variety of hand sizes so you can further dial in the shift and brake levers for comfort, and a low initiation force makes for easy lever actuation reducing arm pump and requiring less effort in the heat of battle.
